Phillip Terrell
Meet Our District Attorney
You could say Phillip Terrell grew up in the Rapides Parish District Attorney’s Office.
Terrell’s father, Jesse “Pete” Terrell, was a Louisiana state trooper and longtime investigator for the office under late DA Charlie Wagner. In December 2014, “Mr. Pete’s” son fulfilled a longtime dream when voters elected him District Attorney.
Since taking office, Terrell has maintained an open door policy, assists victims through what can be a daunting process, providing pretrial diversion options for nonviolent offenders and committing to diversity while also hiring the best staff to represent the people of Rapides Parish.
Terrell was born and raised in Pineville. He is a graduate of Louisiana College and LSU Law School.
He has practiced everything from criminal defense to personal injury plaintiff’s cases in a law career spanning more than 30 years. He served eight years as Pineville city attorney and prosecutor, and more than 17 years as Pineville city judge.
Terrell and his wife, Vicki, have three children. They are active members of Calvary Baptist Church.
He was privileged to serve as chair of the Rapides Parish Airport Authority and as an original member of the England Authority Board of Commissioners.
